The Supreme Court might have the final word on heathcare

They are going to pass a bill…There are lot’s of republicans bandying talk about the democrats not having the votes, but its just talk..The fact is that next week, President Obama is going to push for reconciliation, they will have the 52 votes needed ( 51, but Nelson will vote with republicans, especially if he can hold up the bill) and despite what is being said, the bill that comes out of econciliation will be one guaranteed to get the votes in the house..They would be crazy to work on a bill unless they ere sure it would pass, so there will be a bill.
One thing I keep hearing from republicans is that the mandate is unconstitutional If so, then there may well be lawsuits filed when the bill is passed, this could lead to the Supreme Curt having final say on the subject..
The same court that brought us Citizens United

We need an alternative, hopefully Bloomberg will run.

We need an alternative..It’s as simple as that..Americans need ( and are starting to really clamor for ) an alternative. I have been hoping that history would be made twice in a row ( two straight HE’s) but the sad fact is that any opponent to Obama from the democratic party, would be farther to the left of Obama and even if they were able to win the primary ( doubtful, Obama’s campaign is pretty good at fixing primaries in the states) no person seen as further left, more big government, more governmental control will win an  election. So, we need an alternative..someone who will allow thinking and doing for yourselves, something neither the conservatives or this democratic party will do. I have heard whispers the NYC mayor Bloomberg might consider running an idependent campaign in 12, I can only hope..this comes to pass..President Obamas failing, President Obamas going to lose..independents are deserting the democrats, he presidents drunken, cheating thugs ( supporters) are useless, one only need look at healthcare to see that. So, with Obama losing, what’s he option?..Republican?..Please..Decent people who insisted on thinking for themselves need intelligent, sound leadership, we need someone to vote foe. Obaman’t that person. Sorry,  the president, personally, I think if left to his own devices, he would do good things for the country, the problem for everyone is the people around him Barack Obama wanted to be president, so he embraced a group that he though would get him there, an opportunistic lot, no matter who you ask, Bush did more for getting Obama elected tha he did himself he does not have that to rely on this time.. The whole ” stop thinking and let the government tell you what to do, how to live and think” attitude that persists, dominates his ardent supporters has failed..people are not willing to stop thinking and doing for themselves, so the president is probably going to lose in 12. So, we need an alternative and Michael Bloomberg would be perfect..an independent that can work with conservatives, will allow thinking and is a better alternative to Obama than any republican would be..
Hopefully he will run, that would be change to believe in.

The senate can change it’s rules, if it will!

We hear quite a lot about partisanship and paralysis in Washington these days..with good reason. But the fact is, for all the wailing and gnashing of teeth our elected representatives portray on camera, the fact is they could, if they just would..change the rules of the senate so that chamber could start to function again ( and still protect the right’s of the minority, essential)Changing senate rules mid session is all but impossible ( requiring 67 votes) but the constitution allows each house to adopt it’s rules as each congress is seated. The house does this every years, but the senate has taken a different approach, instead of adapting, changing to the needs to the republic and her citizens, the senate is content to just allow the rules from the previous congress to stand..some of these rules are more than a hundred years old, they were different rules for a different time, a different republic. For all the talk about how broken Washington is, the fact is that those in congress have the power to change the rules,( In January, at the beginning of each session) This is the next change that the people should not only hope for, but demand..We should demand that our elected representatives..OUR representatives, step outside of the mindset, the culture of power and entitlement that those we sent to congress are imbibed with. We should press the senate to make the changes that we the people require.. We need more than change we can believe in.
We need change.

This congress would not have passed the Civil Rights Act!

A concert scheduled in DC to commemorate the civil rights act had to be postponed due to weather and that got me to thinking that if it were today, the civil rights act would not get passed. This goes to show that big ideas need people with minds big enough to understand them to get things that we need done done.  The republic as a dift given to us and one that we as a people are squandering..we need to reform rules and ourselves to help ensure the federal government keeps working at the task it exists for, to serve and govern the people.
At the moment, it’s not..this needs to change.
Changing the rules and the way they are used, vhanging ourselves..THAT would be change we could believe in.

Brown’s about to be seated, so goes the agenda

Had the senate simply changed it’s rules, it could have given itself the opportunity to overcome republican filibusters. We should all take a lesson in what our representatives priorities are,  made clear by the fact that they chose to allow the presidents agenda to be effectively ended.

We need a challenger to Obama

More and more we are hearing  ( from the WH and the president’s inner circle) about how Obamas looking at being a one termer..ths being true ( and probable) I think the time is now to find and groom a primary challenger to Obama. If there is anything that should scare people, it’s for them to remember that presently, the alternative to Obama is a republican. Faced with that possibility, it’s time to see if there are any who will buck the party and try to keep the democrats in power, try to replace Obama. Keep in mind, I like Obama, but I think he will fall vitim to his own hype, expectations that cannot possibly be lived up to. If the democrats are going to stay, Obama has to go.

Xians want to burn a gay teen novel

Now that’s oppression and censorship the supporters of President Obama can get behind.
The novel is called “Baby Be-Bop” by author Francesca Lia Block. A christian group in Wisconsin has filed a lawsuit that would permit them to build a bonfire and burn copies of the book.
Writing about homosexuality, so the right hates her, a WHITE, WOMAN writing about homosexuality, so the left ( as represented by the supporters of President Obama) hate her.
If you ask me, I’m surprised she’s still on this side of the dirt.

It’s the deocrats, not just their nominee that need to be beaten

It’s the party and the ideas and policies it would foster that pose the biggest threat, to ourselves, our way of life, our children. While social responsibility is a good thing, helping is a good thing, the “redistribution of wealth” being touted by the party will be harmful to the people. Taking from those who can and giving to those who can’t is bad policy and it fosters bad philosophy. The democrats have some ideas that are chal full of good intentions, but will be terrible for the people. THAT is what must be worked to be defeated.
